Writivity 2022 – A Tremendous Success

Monday, August 15, 2022 to Thursday, August 18, 2022 marked the successful staging of Writivity 2022, a workshop designed for grade 10 and 11 students preparing to sit the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Visual Arts Examination..

“Based on the majority response of the students who participated in WRITIVITY 2022, I am convinced that most of them feel at least 90% more confident about completing their CSEC visual arts journal, have a greater appreciation for the NGJ and can now do better research on Jamaican and other Caribbean artist.” – Dwayne Lyttle, Curatorial Assistant, in the Education Department.

“The National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ) is quite pleased with the public’s response to this year’s Writivity Workshop. The participants exhibited great enthusiasm and reacted well to the presenters and the information. Interestingly, both teachers and parents saw the value of the workshop which was evidenced in their attendance and participation. As we continue to support and assist our CSEC visual arts students with the development of their reflective journals, we continue to encourage them to use the Education Department of the NGJ as a resource center for conducting research, engaging and connecting with our collections.”  – Kirt Henry, Assistant Curator, National Gallery of Jamaica.

Kingston Biennial 2022: Pressure is an art exhibition at the National Gallery of Jamaica, featuring the works of 24 local and diaspora artists around the Jamaican idiom ‘Pressure.’
